Child Care Assistance Program

The State of Illinois has one of the best subsidized child care programs in the country. Eligibility guidelines are based on criteria such as income, family size, etc. Parents are required to make a monthly co-payment to the provider to help in the cost of care.

Eligibility Guidelines
To qualify for the program an applicant must be:
- Income Eligible
- Working and/or in school
- Completing a required TANF activity
A family is considered income eligible when the combined gross monthly income of all family / household members are at or below for the corresponding family / household size. ALL income must be combined to determine eligibility. Two parent families / households include those with 2 or more adults living in the home such as the applicant and their spouse or significant other with a child in the home.

Documentation must be secured for all income and maintained in the family eligibility file prior to approval for child care payments. Parents / Guardians are responsible for providing Income Verification and all other information required by the Department of Human Services in order to determine eligibility for child care services.
Once your completed application is submitted, it will be reviewed based on the eligibility factors of the program. Within 10 business days, you will receive an approval or denial notice, or request for additional information. If you do not receive a notification within 10 business days, please call our office.
If your application is approved, you are required to:
- Pay a monthly copay to your provider based on income and family size,
- Complete paperwork to be re-determined at least every 12 months,
- Notify Child Care Resource & Referral Network of changes in job, income, childcare provider or family size.
