Changes to the Quality Counts Quality Rating System for centers are coming soon! This is an exciting time for Illinois children and families! Illinois was one of only 13 states to win the federal Race to the Top- Early Learning Challenge grant. Illinois will receive $34.8 million over the next 4 years. Part of this grant opportunity calls for Illinois to create a Quality Rating & Improvement System (QRIS) inclusive of all early learning and development programs. Quality Counts QRS will have a new name, new requirements and new information & resources for parents. To view the entire grant Illinois submitted, please visit: http://www2.illinois.gov/gov/OECD/Pages/EarlyLearningChallenge.aspx Please note these important dates pertaining to the Quality Counts QRS:
· QRS center applications will be accepted by INCCRRA through June 30, 2013 (application must be at the INCCRRA office by close of business on June 30th OR postmarked June 30th). After this time, center providers will need to apply under the new QRIS. · For currently rated QRS centers, information will be coming soon about transition into the new QRIS. · QRS for family child care providers will continue as it currently is until 2015.
